A critic once said in her review 'It's small. It's real. And it's deeply moving.'
The Iranian film 'A Separation' left me speechless from the single first courtroom scene to the last satisfying beautiful silent scene. Asghar Farhadi the brilliant director and writer behind this magnificent Iranian's drama did a unique and steady dialogues that never ever gets you board off, the film's screenplay is a one huge perfect separated act in a way that takes you. It's without a doubt the best original screenplay of the year so far. It is an Oscar worthy. It passes the brilliant writing from Woody's beautiful work in 'Midnight In Paris' and the slow moving writing from Jeff Nichols's masterpiece 'Take Shelter'. Asghar's direction and writing are painfully stunning, It ties you and make you live the ordinary families behaviors of feeling, sadness, touching, challenges and complexity. It touches you with 'no matter what, being together is much much stronger'. It's an unbelievable impressive work form Asghar.
The ensemble did an extraordinary performances. It's without a doubt an acting at its finest. Peyman Maadi, Leila Hatami, Sareh Bayat and Shahab Hosseini were pure perfection. they all deserve an Oscar nomination except Bayat she defiantly deserve the win. The brilliant compiling cast deals with family duty, loyalty, pride and religion in a two hours work of art of screen writing. The emotional feelings between them are high, the breakdowns themes are believable, the character are unlikeable yet likeable and definitely the way it develops from the first loud courtroom scene to the last silent courtroom scene.
It's sharp editing is a powerful art of cinema, It's is a very simple movie on the first look but as it moves on and when it ends, it acts like the most challenging and complex film, and yet a faster than a speed of light. So at last I would say the three most powerful things about the film are, the well written screenplay, the magnificent cast, and the complex and brilliant editing with the lack of a score.
'A Separation' is a near perfect film that should the Best Foreign language film. and with a doubt show have been nominated for a Best Picture as well.

Leila Hatami, A Separation
The second best actress after Viola's touching performance in The Help. Haven't seen Tilda's film We Need to Talk About Kevin yet.
Best Supporting Actor
Shahab Hosseini, A Separation
The third best performance of the year so far after the underrated performance of Albert Brooks in Drive and the magnificent act from Brad Pitt in The Tree of Life.
Best Supporting Actress
Sareh Bayat, A Separation
She's the best actress in the film and without a doubt the best performance of the year, she truly deserve the Oscar.
Best Original Screenplay
Asghar Farhadi, A Separation
The best single thing about the film is the well-written screenplay from Asghar, I'm rotting for the win at The Oscars. and yet I haven't seen The Artist yet.

Take Shelter a movie that will take you to the levels of insanity, a mind-blowing acting from the brilliant Michal Shannon, a really deserving Oscar performance. not only a nomination. he takes the acting in a whole new levels. It's like he's not even reading the script, he just being himself, he's crying scene, he's anger scene, he's depressing scene, he's confusing scene, he's finale facial expressions to his wife scene. all and all an epic brilliant performance. Shannon's performance now passes Ryan Gosling's in Drive, Brad Pitt's in Moneyball and Gary Goldman's in Tinker Tailor. by far the most amazing performance of the year, still haven't seen Clooney 's in The Descendants. Dujardin's in The Artist and Fassbender's in Shame.
Jessica Chastain is without a doubt the breakthrough actress of the year. She was brilliant in Tree of Life, The Help and the dazzling Take Shelter, her acting in the film is unbelievable, It's like watching a women act herself, actually I wouldn't call it act, she was breathtaking, the last five second silent act was her best work to date. her facial expressions were so powerful especially her scene with Michaeal at the shelter. Even while Shannon is brilliant playing his character, we also see her reactions to everything she has heard. A simple expression along her face is enough to show us what she is really feeling and how confused she is. a deserving Oscar nomination.
Jeff Nichols he's the real deal and the breaking point of the film, he's original mind-blowing writing was extraordinary in so many levels. he writes the film from the scratch, with a slow out of the context start to a magnificent one of the best ending of this year. He combined a fantastic psychological madness with a really brilliant directed dream scenes which were so believable and the real pure perfection normal life of any usual Ohio family drama. he also directed the film with a dazzling new way of direction. it was a fresh piece of masterful filmmaking. And btw the budget of the film is only 1 Million dollar.
The score of the film is what makes the scenes so amazingly moving, It takes you away, you know what I mean about how it does takes you away when you see the last scene perfectly mixed with the background slowly moving score. David Wingo's work was well done. The editing of the film was a classic work of art. the way the scenes moves from a dream to a reality were perfect and study as your hand, The cinematography is truly beautiful work. after all the film is terrifically crafted little movie that bounces from the editing, the score and the cinematography.
Some brilliant score of the film.

Moneyball, many say It's a sport film that's must be boring. but let me stop you right there.

Drive is a truly classic film. It's by far the best film I've seen this year. a solid 10 out of 10.
The film written in a beautiful way, a dazzling direction. with some brilliant cinematography. and breathtaking music.
reminds me of the 50's films direction, simple and extraordinary. and the 70's silent outstanding acting. and the beautiful music of the 80's.
Ryan Gosling and Albert Brooke were amazing, Ryan acting reminds me of DeNiro's acting in "Taxi Driver". Not alot of speaking, but some remarkable facial impressions.
Newton Thomas Sigel did some beautiful shots that really blow my mind. and Cliff Martinez unbelievable music, Newton and Cliff adds to the film made the film a Classic film.

It's a highly recommended film for who looks to some of the 50's and 70's work. It's kinda a take it slow till the end film.
This year turns out to be a great year of films. but the disappointment was in the summer blockbuster.
The Films of 2011
